It’s always nice to give back! A group of employees from HGR helped to pack 200 lunches for people in need on Friday, February 21. HGR partnered up with Ricky Smith and his organization RAKE – Random Acts Of Kindness – to coordinate the charity event. Over 20 employees, along with Ricky and his representatives from RAKE, spent a part of the afternoon assembling peanut butter & jelly sandwiches with other goodies to pass out. These bagged lunches were supplemented with other helpful items like new socks and toothbrushes. The goal of the event, and the main objective of RAKE, is to help spread kindness around the world.
Having Ricky Smith at HGR’s warehouse was a great experience. A native of Cleveland, Ricky built up the RAKE Organization from humble grassroots efforts. The RAKE website tells the story, “Raised in the Cleveland suburbs of Warrensville Heights, Ohio, Ricky possessed a need to excite the world with his off-kilter wit and eagerness to help the needy any way he could. Through his routine charitable actions, Ricky possessed a sense of randomness.” It only seemed natural to connect Ricky’s random personality with his warm charitable disposition to create RAKE.
RAKE operates in a lot of other cities beyond Cleveland. In fact, Ricky has taken his charitable operations to several different places on tour. Like a proper touring act, RAKE has gone so far as to hit 50 cities in 30 days! From Atlanta to Denver to San Francisco and everything in between, RAKE goes on the road to collect donations and set up charity events all across America.
